Within the last few years a lot of research is coming out about the ingredients that are used in food across the nation. That research is showing that a lot of the food we have been eating has been made with harsh chemicals, pesticides and even more. This is exactly why you should stay away from Poptart and Lunchables brand.
Ahh, those delicious breakfast pastries that you can taste without even getting a bite. The ones you can pop in the toaster for a quick snack or grab on the go for breakfast. This breakfast pastry comes in so many different flavors and is sold in grocery stores across America. My favorite used to be the cinnamon brown sugar.
What about those little lunch boxes that came with the meat, cheese and crackers? Every time we went to the store as a kid, we thought these were the best things you could get. Who doesn’t like cheese and crackers, making pizzas, or the nachos? But, as we learn more and get older, we understand how important it is to take care of your body. That is why today, we have to ditch these famous brands.

What’s the big idea & why am I saying, “stay away from Poptart and Lunchables?”
Why am I making so much fuss about these two products? These two products I use to eat all the time as a young kid even young adult. I had no idea what the ingredients were doing to my body. You might crave these foods or remember these as snacks from your childhood. But research has come out that is more than concerning.

Have you ever taken a look at the ingredient list of either of these foods? The whole ingredient list is baffling. From High Fructose Corn Syrup, TBHQ, to artificial dyes. A lot of these ingredients are having effects in our bodies, and we haven’t known it until now.
Artificial dyes such as Red 40, Yellow 5, Yellow 6 contain benzidene which is a known human and animal carcinogen. They are stated to be in the foods at a “low” level. But honestly who’s trusting the labels anymore and what “they” say. Not only that but TBHQ is known to harm the immune system. Those are just a few of the harmful ingredients. Are the ingredients affecting us?
We all know that pop tarts are not the healthiest food to be eating. Especially constantly, but some of us aren’t really aware of the harm it could be doing. We just weren’t told or didn’t even take the time to do the research. That’s okay though. Once you know better you do better. This is why I have been saying stay away from Poptart and Lunchables.
Poptart’s use ingredients that can potentially be harmful to humans. We would have to go more in depth by each ingredient to find out what its potential effects are. That will have to be for another post.
Usually, the first 3 ingredients on the ingredient label are the main ingredients in that product. If sugar is in any of the first 3 ingredients, you are really only eating sugar. If you don’t know already eating too much sugar can have a huge effect on us. Including the mind, the immune system, and so much more. If we eat too much sugar our body can become resistant to insulin. This means that we will have cravings, irritability, poor sleep, and excess belly fat.
Sugar leads to a bunch of diseases and ailments. In order to prevent disease, we have to eat a balanced diet and cut the sugar out tremendously. Poptart’s should definitely be on the chopping board. But if you still want to have that Poptart taste without the added ingredients try one of these homemade recipes: Brown Cinnamon Sugar Poptart Homemade or Easy Homemade Poptart. Sometimes it’s all about what we put into our food that matters.

Why you should stay away from Poptart and Lunchables
Lunchables have been in the news a lot lately. Come to find out Lunchables were tested for heavy metals that include lead, and cadmium. They also tested for sodium. According to the Consumer Reports, 74% was the highest amount of lead found in a Lunchables kit. They also stated that lead, cadmium or both were found in all the Lunchables kits. This is ridiculous honestly. Why does there even have to be heavy metals in any of the foods we eat or the air, etc.? That isn’t already found in its natural form throughout Earth.
Heavy metals lead to developmental problems, hypertension, kidney damage and more. Right now, there are no federal limits for heavy metals. So, what does this mean? They do not currently have legally enforceable standards for the maximum amount of heavy metals allowed in food products.
Not only do they have heavy metals they can also contain sodium nitrite and phthalates. Sodium nitrite is a preservative that causes cancer. Phthalates are known endocrine disrupters which means they mimic or interfere with the body’s hormones. Phthalates can increase the risk of reproductive problems, obesity, cardiovascular disease, and diabetes.

Stroy time
Now don’t feel ashamed if you have been eating these products or even giving them to your children. Again we live and we learn. When I was younger it was almost a staple in my house. To have Poptarts. We would eat them for breakfast or as snacks all through the day. The cinnamon flavor was my favorite kind. I even had a friend come over and stay the night. She had never had a Poptart before and she tried one at my house for the first time.
I honestly don’t remember if she liked it or not but being an adult with 4 kids of my own, I wouldn’t give them one EVER. I look back and feel terrible for even letting her eat one haha. But it’s okay. With the information we have now we just do better. Leave it on the shelf and try to make homemade ones or just forget about them completely.
Some may say it’s hard or they just can’t find anything quick for the kids. By continuing to feed our kids with this trash they keep putting on the shelves we set our kids up for failure with their health in the future. The effects of what we eat don’t always show up immediately. I feel this is why we have a lot of childhood obesity and as people age it’s been known for them to get sicker and have more ailments.
I hope you will one day, stay away from Poptart and Lunchables
The goal is to stay healthy as long as we can and feel great in our bodies. It’s very unnecessary for these ingredients to be in our food, unless they are naturally occurring from nature. It can be hard to let go of foods especially ones we’ve been eating for most of our life. Sometimes, it’s better to change than to stay the same.
In order for us to have a future of healthy, happy people, we as adults have to stand up and not let big brands continue to win. This could be us not buying the brand anymore, spreading awareness, asking for changes in ingredients. I hope this article sways you a little bit more towards leaving these products on the shelf. Thank you for sharing this, I agree, it’s so shocking that they are allowed to sell these with those heavy metals in them! I am surprised that they are still allowed to sell bacon. Several years ago it was classified as a level one carcinogen, and I assumed that they would begin to put warnings on it, and make it for over eighteens only, like cigarettes. But they have done nothing about it at all. It is so strange. Thank you for posting this information.
That is very strange. I did not know that bacon was considered a level one carcinogen. Does that go for turkey bacon as well?
I think so, I don’t know. Perhaps it’s something to do with the way bacon is processed.
