Deliciously Vegan: How to Bake Perfect Homemade Chocolate Chip Cookies

Do you have a child at home who has food allergies? Maybe you even have an intolerance to dairy and egg, but still want to have a chocolate chip cookie every now and then? Without spending 5$ or more on vegan chocolate chip cookies, then this is the post for you.

Today I am talking about how to make vegan chocolate chip cookies. My son is has food allergies and it has been a struggle finding all the right recipes to make so that he can still enjoy sweets. But I came across the perfect one thus far.

It’s not hard to make at all, and they come out soft and delicious. So now the whole family can enjoy them without even noticing that they are dairy and egg free!

Ingredients

To make these cookies you may already have majority of the ingredients in your pantry. Once you buy the ingredients you won’t need to buy them again for a while, which is great about baking at home. Here’s the list of ingredients you’ll need.

Flour, cornstarch, baking powder, baking soda, salt, vegan butter, sugar, light brown sugar, unsweetened applesauce, vanilla extract, and vegan chocolate chips.

Now if you love to make things home made you should have majority of these ingredients, but if not, you can always buy from the store and in the long run it will still cost less than those cookies on the shelf. Don’t forget a lot of the times we don’t really know what’s going into that cookie on the shelf. So, having the ingredients and making yourself will relieve you of the stress of not knowing.

There are a couple brands that I use when shopping for vegan chocolate chips: Simple Truth or Enjoy Life. They’re both vegan and listed here: https://www.kroger.com/p/simple-truth-organic-semi-sweet-vegan-chocolate-chips/0001111089656?gclid=ead05cb22b36100558f93a953a5d88bf&gclsrc=3p.ds&&cid=ps_bin_ogs.dynamic_t:DYNAMIC+SEARCH+ADS&msclkid=ead05cb22b36100558f93a953a5d88bf

Enjoy Life: https://enjoylifefoods.com/products/semi-sweet-chocolate-mini-chips-1. I gave you the enjoy life website so you can find a store in your area that sells this kind. I found them at Kroger but for some reason it wasn’t showing up online.

There are not a lot of options in store when it comes to shopping vegan or plant based, that I’ve noticed. Even if there are a lot of options, they are priced sky high and seems greedy in my opinion, when there’s so many people coming up with these food allergies that need these ingredients. But that’s a post for another day.

I like to use real ingredients when I am making anything so don’t be fooled by vanilla imitation you want to get pure vanilla extract. Also, the vegan butter I use is Miyokos. They are a great brand, and it doesn’t contain soy pr canola oil. Here is the link: https://www.target.com/p/miyoko-39-s-creamery-european-style-salted-plant-milk-vegan-butter-8oz/-/A-53930343?store=. You can also get it at Kroger.

Are they easy to make?

Once you have all the ingredients it’s very easy to make. You are going to want to make it exactly like the recipe says. I will leave a link to the recipe I used here in a bit.

The first thing you are going to do is line a cookie sheet with parchment paper. Next, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Don’t forget to pay attention to what you’re mixing together, if you miss a step the cookies could come out different than what you expected.

After that, you are going to mix the butter, sugar, brown sugar, applesauce, and vanilla together. Then add the flour, cornstarch, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.

Fold it together and add in the chocolate chips. Chill the dough for about 20 minutes, and lastly scoop out the cookies onto the pan and cook for 10-12 minutes.

At the end you are going to get delicious cookies that are soft and have the right amount of chew to them. Here is the recipe I used. https://thebananadiaries.com/simple-vegan-chocolate-chip-cookies/. Giving all credit to her for making a great recipe.

These cookies were definitely a 10 out of 10. My boys loved them and even my husband couldn’t tell a difference. They were gone pretty quickly. I couldn’t even keep my hands off. This is the best vegan cookie recipe I have found thus far.
