Hey, ya’ll and welcome back to another post about crafting. If you’ve been keeping up with Domestic Mom Bliss, I love to do arts and crafts with the kids. It’s something that occupies them for a little while and gets their creative juices flowing.
Plus, it’s extra quality time with everyone and we can see how each person’s craft turns out unique. It’s so awesome to see each kid put their own spin on a craft. The craft I am talking about today is a rainbow made out of pipe cleaners. Let’s get into it.!
Materials you need
- Paper Plates
- Blue paint (optional)
- Pipe cleaners
- Yellow construction paper
- Black marker (or markers)
- Googly eyes (optional)
- Cotton balls
- Hot glue gun or glue
The materials for this craft are very minimal. We didn’t use googly eyes. We just drew smiley faces on our suns. Which the boys each did their own design on the sun. So everyone did not have a smiley face. We also didn’t use blue paint we just kept the background of the white paper plat.
Some of the boys tried to color on it with marker to make a blue sky but we didn’t really worry about it. I honestly didn’t feel like pulling out the paint, waiting for it to dry, or cleaning it up. It still was just as fun.

How did we make it.
We started with our sun first. I cut circles out of the yellow paper, and we drew the smiley faces on. Then we glued the sun onto the paper plate. The boys did not draw lines around their sun for the sun rays. But that’s okay.
After we glued the sun onto the paper plate, we started to put the pipe cleaners on. I had to cut the pipe cleaners just a little because they wouldn’t look right on the paper plate. So, we cut them a little bit and used the hot glue gun to glue it.
I glued the pipe cleaners one by one and took turns with each kid by gluing a color at a time. With fours kiddos sometimes it can take some time, but that’s okay. While I’m helping someone the others find something creative to do with their art or wait patiently.
After we glued the rainbows on to the plates, we glued the cotton balls to the ends of the rainbow, and we were finished. That’s all there is too it. It doesn’t take that much time and they love hanging up all their artwork when it’s done.

Rating
Again, we love doing crafts and they love when we choose crafts that requires using any type of glue. This definitely kept us busy and allowed us to sit down and have some quality time. I would rate this craft a 10 out of 10. Easy and fun.
I got the idea from https://www.madetobeamomma.com/pipe-cleaner-rainbow-craft/. You can check it out yourself if you’d like. Let me know if you tried this with your little ones and if you enjoyed this craft!
