Comfort in Every Bite: Mastering Egg and Dairy-Free Homemade Hamburger Helper

The Best non-cheese hamburger helper.

Hey, ya’ll, and welcome. I am a mom of 4 and married to a very picky husband. Finding recipes that are tasty and healthy are hard to find. But I am here to make it a tad bit easier for us. I search all through the web, Pinterest, and Instagram to find some of the best and tastiest recipes and review them.

Today I am reviewing a recipe that I got from Pinterest. My family loves this meal and since one of my kids is allergic to dairy and eggs this is the perfect recipe. I am going to tell you about the adjustments I made and on a scale rating how good this was. I’ll give my rating and my family’s.

Be sure to read to the end to get the full recipe and who originally made it.

I did tweak the recipe just a little and I will tell you what I used and what I didn’t. This was so delicious; I give her so much thanks for putting together such a wonderful recipe.

First, you might notice that her recipe says vegan. I did not go full-out vegan. I used regular ground beef in ours, because we are not vegan, and I thought to still try the sauce which still paired great. I also did not use brandy or white wine. I substituted water instead.

Second, when making the cheese sauce I left out the olive or capers brine. I don’t think we missed it or tasted anything different, but again I’ve never used it in this recipe before. The taste of course is not going to be exactly like cheese, but that’s not what I was going for anyway.

My husband and I grew up eating boxed foods and all the junk and snacks that are on the shelves at the store. As I grew older, I realized that I really didn’t know how to cook from scratch. So, I started my journey with my family of 6, and ever since it’s been trial and error.

This definitely is on the list of regular cooked meals we eat. Now let’s get to the ratings! Out of 10, my husband says an 8 or 9. I give it a definite 9 and based on how my kids finish the bowl I would say they rate it a 10 out of 10. Especially since they’ve never tried the boxed version.

This recipe is called “Vegan Hamburger Helper” and was made by Jhanelle. You can find her full recipe here:  Vegan Hamburger Helper – From The Comfort Of My Bowl

I hope you enjoyed this article there will be more to come. All thanks to Jhanell
